What is it for ?
This option allows the Admin to give the opportunity for a member to join a group automatically using messages limit.
Indeed
until our last update, the Admin had to set permissions for groups to
see, open a topic, post ... by categories and forums and integrate the
members manually.
Now he can provide automatic access to a group that members can integrate directly by posting a certain amount of messages!
How does it work ?
Simply go to your Admin panel > Users & groups > Groups administration > Create new group
This new option allows you to give crescendo, safely and automatically,
permissions to see and do for your members in your forum.
Indeed, a new member just registered should not necessarily have access to all the forum!
He must be present, so do at least one post before seeing some sections as a guest browsing and discovering our forums for assistance!
The
more he posts, the more he has access to different categories and sub
forum: first the presentations, then a first discussion forum ... then
games, videos...until he get access to all interesting sections!
You
will make him a member who moves from one group to another and with
each new group, he'll acquire new permissions enabling it to continue!
Not only does it give him the envy :
- Continue the "adventure" in your forum, therefore fidelity!
- To discover the surprises he will have by being active!
Example
We create a group "New member" :
Let's check out the group permissions in General > Forums > Categories and forums
What the admin sees :
What the "New members" group sees :
The minimum messages to join a group is 1 (0 is not taken into account).
Beware
to always select the level of importance of the group so that the color
can be applied, especially that permissions are taken into account in
ascending order: new groups should be positioned after the
"traditional" Admin and mods!
In addition, you can save time or reward a member by adding him manually in a group!
Also
you can without any worries remove a member of a group. Next the
group's position in the ranking, the member removed will end up
necessarily in the lower group! He will have to repost the number of
messages needed to return to the upper group.
NB:
If you activate the option for an "old" group created before the
update, members who were already in the group will remain ... unless
you manually remove them!
This feature can be applied to all groups except the Admins group.
